El Cajon Valley Veterinary Hospital was established in 1949. Here's a look back at what times were like when ECVVH first opened its doors.

 

Timeline 1949

 

  • El Cajon’s population was around 4,000

 

  • TV was just starting to become known

 

  • E.C.V.V.H was an 80% dairy cow practice

 

  • 7 inch diameter, 45 rpm records

              were introduced, ushering in the

              rock and roll era and the radio

              D.J.'s that played them

     

  • Tide Detergent arrived

 

  • Penicillin just starting to be widely used in veterinary medicine

 

  • There were no allergy medications like corticosteroids (azium) or antihistamines

 

  • There was NO BUTE!

 

  • There were no horse wormers or vaccines

 

  • Xerox copier started

 

  • Truman was President

 

  • Earl Warren was Governor of California

 Flag Pole

 

The flag pole that currently resides in front of our hospital was donated by Roylene Perkins. The pole is over 100 years old.
